EARMP Community visit May 12th - May 15th, 2015.

The Eastern Athabasca Regional Monitoring Program (EARMP) will be visiting the communities of Black Lake, Fond du Lac, Stony Rapids, and Wollaston Lake May 12th to May 15th. The EARMP team is working with the University of Saskatchewan's Science Ambassador Program to teach high school students more about the environmental sampling that takes place nearby their communities and potential careers opportunities in the sciences.

EARMP 2015 Community Calendars

Community Calendars information about the program and will be distributed to each of the seven northern communities in the Athabasca Basin. EARMP completes another year of sampling in all 6 communities.

Sampling took place in September of 2014 in the 6 Athabasca Basin Communities for EARMP Community Program. Water and country food samples (fish, berry, and mammals) were collected in all communities with the assistance of local community members. All samples were submitted to SRC laboratories in Saskatoon for chemical analysis and the results will be back in the winter of 2015. Thank you to all those who donated their time for another year of successful sampling!

EARMP will be attending the Northern Saskatchewan Environmental Quality Committee (NSEQC) meetings in La Ronge.

As an advisory committee of the provincial government, the NSEQC gives Northerners a voice on environmental, socio-economic, and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) issues in regards to the northern Saskatchewan uranium industry (from exploration to decommissioning). Although not a regulatory body, the NSEQC is a well informed and well respected group which assists in the free flow of information and understanding among communities, industry, and government.

EARMP Community Meetings in Black Lake, Fond Du Lac, and Stony Rapids – May 22nd and 23rd

The community visits will provide an opportunity to facilitate the communication of the results of the first year of the program and to answer any questions or concerns of community members in relation to the new monitoring program in the Athabasca Basin.

The Eastern Athabasca Regional Monitoring Program (EARMP) was established in 2011 under the Province of Saskatchewan’s Boreal Watershed Initiative. One of the primary goals of the Boreal Watershed Initiative is to assess the ecological integrity of Saskatchewan’s northern watersheds in order to address potential environmental concerns and to identify sustainable management practices in the region.

Eastern Athabasca Regional Monitoring Program 2011 Report now available for download.

The Eastern Athabasca Regional Monitoring Program (EARMP) today released the 2011 EARMP Report and made it available for public viewing. Different sections of the report were made available in PDF format including an Executive Summary of the report, Main Report (includes Tables and Figures), Appendices, as well as the complete 2011 EARMP Report. In addition, all data raw will be made available to interested parties in excel format for their own review and analysis upon request.
